We are very proud of our Parents as Teachers program, that has recently won the Blue Ribbon award as a “Model Affiliate.” Parents as Teachers is a nationwide, research-based program with proven success. The program utilizes curriculum in the provision of regular home visits and group parent meetings for parents of children, prenatal to five years old. This model of home visitation services also provides regular developmental and health screenings. Additionally, the program establishes a resource network that links participating families to other community services. These services are provided by trained, PAT certified parent educators.

Since it began in 2008, our Parents as Teachers program has served 178 families and 284 children. In 2012 the Governor’s Office for Children and Families commended PCAH for serving more than the required targeted participants. Referrals for the Parents as Teachers home visitation services and family assessments come from a variety of sources including: Habersham County Department of Family and Children Services, Habersham County Health Department, Habersham County School System, Habersham County Medical Center, First Steps Program, local pediatricians, Head Start, and other Parent as Teachers families.
