Our Counseling Program Goals:

  • To provide a safe, caring, and compassionate environment, with competent counselors trained in effective therapeutic interventions.
  • To guide and support children, adults, and families through the healing process from childhood adversities.
  • To provide support of victims by linking them to additional community resources as well as assisting them to apply for victim compensation when appropriate.

Who Qualifies for Counseling?

Anyone who survived difficult life experiences during their childhood may apply for services. Our team of professional counselors is available to offer free counseling sessions to qualifying adults and children. Below is a list of qualifying childhood adversities:

  • Abandonment
  • Bullying
  • Pornography
  • Child of Divorced or Separated Parents
  • Child of Incarcerated Parent
  • Child of Alcoholic/Substance Abusing Parent
  • Child of Parent with Mental Health Issues
  • Witness of Mass Violence
  • Traumatic Grief

How to be referred for counseling services:

1. Complete this Referral Form and fax it to 706-928-5183 or email it to referrals@pcahabersham.org.

2. Upon receipt of a referral our Counseling Coordinator, Robin Whisnant, will contact you to ask a few questions to best fit you in with one of our licensed therapists.

3. Wait to be contacted by your assigned therapist who will schedule your first appointment. Appointments are 50 minutes each.

4. Complete the Counseling Welcome Packet for ADULTS or for CHILD-ADOLESCENTS and bring them with you to your first appointment.

The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC), through the Victims of Crime Act, funds our counseling program through a grant program applied for by Prevent Child Abuse Habersham, Inc. Donations and volunteer work help to offset the cash match requirement from this funding source.
